Roux is Four
Updated: Apr 11, 2020
Because she turns four years old today (but already wants to be 10!), rewatching our celebration of her first orbit when she made our wonderland go round! Happy birthday good girl, Roux!
This was featured too in Baby & Breakfast!
Amelia Roux, youngest daughter of Moonstar88’s Paolo Bernaldo and The Beauty Strategist, Jasmine Mendiola celebrated her first birthday in Capitol Greenstreet one April Sunday in an Alice tea party picnic wonderland! Decorated by Jasmine herself out of the vintage Alice in Wonderland book theme and had the invitations, framed quotes, buffet labels, menu tents and craft station instructions designed by Sygryd Fuentes of The Playground Graphic Design. Her event pegs were executed and supervised by Oomph Styling’s Beam Mariano and Angela Ibarle’s Day 1 Project Team. They setup picnic tables and picnic blankets amidst their existing home furniture pieces — including Roux’s crib! — decorated with tea sets, red roses, playing cards, potion bottles, floral patterned wallpaper and cloth runners and blankets thrown with crocheted pillows lovingly handmade by Roux’s grandmom along with bespoke chairs from Auntie Joee’s Sweet Earth Sprout Shop. No games and fancy entertainment — just good ‘ol picnic prizes of kites and frisbees for each bunny found; The Red Queen’s Bounce Castle for the little jumpy tots; a Mad Hatter’s Hat Making station by Partyscapes Manila, coloring worksheets and a Magic Mushroom Tote Stamping Station by Life After Breakfast Blog Crafter, Tita Alessandra Lanot. Guests were treated to balloons, pinwheels and bubble bottles hand-crafted by Ninang Kat Canillas of Partyscapes Manila and vintage pocket watch necklaces for adults! It was a breezy afternoon filled with light conversation as Roux’s older siblings Ate Ada, Kuya Mio and Ate Ash — who were all in-charge of giving away prizes to craft winners — prepared a playlist to provide the ambient chill background music. Food was lovingly cooked by Paolo himself with a handful of his Tomatokick crew, all served on wooden plates with a kick of mini-hot versions of his new hot sauce flavors, Pablo Flavored Heat. There were tinapa canapes, veggie sticks, tomato basil penne, slow-roast ribs, roasted pork in grapes and rosemary roux and Pixie Potions served drinks called Bonkers Black Coffee with milk and ice on the side, Alice’s Drink Me! Blue Lemonade and Red Queen’s It’s Always Tea Time Red Iced Tea. There were beer cans and water bottles too! We had Alice-themed mini cupcakes by Auntie Lady Lorredo of Baking Bug in chocolate, vanilla, calamansi and strawberRoux flavors and an ice cream cart with the same refreshing fruit flavors like calamansi, avocado and strawberRoux again! for dessert. The afternoon was punctuated by the traditional cake candle blowing of a 2-tier earl grey — of course, because, tea — cake designed by Ninang Lora Sebastian of The Cottontail Cake Studio. Instead of a guest book, the Bracket Creative Group’s video team — the production company of Jas & Pao, went around to gather messages for Roux and captured it in this video which we hope she can watch again and again for all of her birthday adventures to come! Hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it. Happy birthday, our Amelia Roux — pronounced ameelya roooo! Papa Mad Hatter Pao, Mommy Red Queen Jas, Ates Tweedledum Ada and Tweedledee Ash, Kuya Cheshire Cat Mio and Kuya Bunny Lukas loves you!
