How to Wear a Bold Lip

How to select the right kind of RED for your Skin Tone

  • If your color direction is Light (fairer/ red undertones) - bluish reds
  • If you're on the morena side -orange-y reds
  • Olive skin-toned, try plum-ish or purplish reds

Different Ways of Wearing Bold Lip Colors (letting you wear 1 lip color in different ways!)

  • downplay your eyes by using earth-tones or neutral eyeshadows or none at all (or just curl your lashes or eyeliner only)
  • the easiest way is to just pat it on your lips like a tint for a naturally-bitten finish to instantly liven up your face
  • put on the full lip color using a lip brush
  • take note on how creamy or matte lipsticks work differently. Those who want to look like they have lipstick on but still look like they have natural-looking makeup (like how I do on my brides), I use creamy lip colors. Personally, I prefer matte lipsticks for a longer-wearing and can get-away with "barely there but colored" lips. So for shades like what I used in the video that has a velvety creamy finish, because I like the shade, I used a technique that also sets the lipstick in place to make them last longer, which is:
  • dab some powder on your lipstick and reapply (this helps with the usual "I don't like wearing lipstick" stigma because most lipstick usually come off, fade or end up chappy after some time) --> same principle used to setting your foundation with powder!
  • Layer deeper, darker colors with bright colors, either by lining or filling in the middle only to avoid making it look too costume-y or Halloween-looking. This in effect also creates dimension for your lip color which is as lips should be: with more defined lines and poutier areas in the middle. And lastly,
  • to avoid looking too intimidating with a bold lipstick color, SMILE!
